As the project lead, I spearheaded the comprehensive revamp of the VDH branding guidance, which we successfully released in March 2023. This major overhaul was prompted by the shortcomings of our previous guidelines, published a decade ago. During our review, we identified significant gaps, most notably in the area of providing clear visual direction for our statewide health campaigns and advertising initiatives.
The newly revised guidance document serves as a comprehensive resource that encapsulates the VDH's longstanding values, visual identity, typography, detailed graphic elements, and visual accessibility standards. This update transcends a basic refresh; it represents a strategic enhancement specifically designed to elevate the clarity and visibility of our work, not only to the public but also to our partners across the Commonwealth.
Additionally, the guide incorporates fundamental insights on accessibility, drawing on expertise from our in-house accessibility specialists. It delves into the concept of 508 compliance and best practices, ensuring our materials are not only visually appealing but also universally accessible.
