In Virginia, nearly 71 cases per 100,000 of childhood elevated blood lead levels are reported each year. These children are at risk for developmental delays, reduced Intelligence Quotient (IQ) scores, learning disabilities, hearing loss, and hyperactivity.
The purpose of these five short animated videos was to highlight ways parents can reduce children’s exposure to lead in their environment and prevent its serious health effects.
The Lead Safe VA campaign kicked off during National Lead Prevention Week with a short term media partnership with WTVR. Sponsored TV spots featuring the station’s morning show host ran resulted in 22 spots and 394,200 impressions.
